Santar

AN EXCEPTIONAL LANDSCAPE WITH LARGE VINEYARDS, AN ERUDITE AND RURAL HERITAGE WITH GREAT RELEVANCE.

Santar is a village, prior to nationality, situated in the Portuguese region of Beira, Nelas municipality. It stands out for its cultural heritage and the beauty of its landscape marked by large vineyards, surrounded on the horizon by the Serra da Estrela to the south and by the Serra do Caramulo to the north. Here granite marks its presence and transforms itself in a profusion of walls, fountains, tanks and noble, agricultural, rustic and religious buildings. Behind these walls, supported by walls, lie gardens on terraces and kilometers of hedges in carved boxwood – including the beloved “carreiras” of Beira – hide tanks. We hear fountains, rose gardens and vineyards open up. Beira’s light and clean air knows well how to embrace distinctly all this background. This is probably the biggest secret of these noble houses that carry ancient names such as Cunhas, Pais do Amaral, Melos, Bragança, Almeida Castelo Branco, Silveira Pinto, Amaral Reis, Ibérico Nogueira e Portugal Leal de Loureiro... Today in Santar we find a unique project – Santar Garden Vila – that since 2013 has been breaking walls, building bridges to join wills and neighboring gardens.
